Who am I?

Who am I?

As one grows up, we tend to become more concious about who we are. The response is complex and requires maturity, acceptance and lots of self-love and self-steem. A way of exercising ourselves to answer this question is by using this:

Fill in each petal with a word or phrase about you in relation to the prompts. You may want to add more petals or maybe use fewer the first time. Revisit this flower and fill it in as you wish. Sometimes what we experience can make this flower vary and it is fine.

As an English teacher this exercise can also help you practise vocabulary on adjectives while working a self-conciousness. Students can even ask others to fill in the petals as the flower goes round the class. This should be monitored to avoid unwanted jokes. Try it!

Identity

The following video can help as reflection on how we see ourselves. Sure teachers can find a good use for vocabulary or listening practise. But dare to go beyond and explore what children/ students may say about themselves.

This video can also help understand better what Identity is.

Look around you:
  • What do you notice when you look at other people?
  • What identities do these people hold that are different from your own?
